Which is best for bronchitis, a humidifier or purifier?

by Brenda Llanas

I have just been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis. Which would be better, a humidifier or a purifier? This will not be cured, it will be with me for the rest of my life. I live in Colorado where the air is very, very dry. Thank you for your help.

humidifier or air purifier for bronchitis

Hi,
Well, it is hard to say exactly which is better for your situation. Since you do live in Colorado, I'd say start with a humidifier because the dry air could be irritating to your lungs, and humidifiers are cheaper!

Definitely get an evaporative humidifier with a filter. You don't want an ultrasonic humidifier because these can send out minerals from the water and irritate your lungs even more.

If the humidifier doesn't seem to help as much as you'd like, then try an air purifier. I believe it would be worth trying each to see if one might be a good help. Feeling better and being able to breathe as well as possible is priceless. Go with the Vornado humidifier. I love mine!

To your health,
Lisa
