Recommended Dehumidifer Setting for basment

by Tim Boeve

I have a Idylis Dehumidifier and the RH setting can be set between 30-90% & a timer selection.

What I would like to know Is a suggested setting.
These are the functions and their reflected options:
6) DISPLAY HUMIDITY DISPLAY: When unit is operating, it displays the current humidity. Press "+ " or "- " buttons to select humidity setting. The humidity is adjusted inincrements of 5% by each press. Adjustable range is within 30% RH to 90% RH. 10 seconds after setting humidity, the display will change back to the current humidity.

TIMER SET DISPLAY: When unit is operating, it displays the current humidity. Press the TIMER button to set the machine displaying the timer, the display will change back to current humidity. When unit is in stand-by, press the TIMER button to set the machine auto turn on. Press "+ " or "- " buttons to select specifed amount of time.

This seems rather redundant?

I have a standard Michigan basement - and just want to keep moisture down and healthy.

What is a recommended setting for this situation?

Recommended dehumidifier setting for basement

Hi!
The recommended dehumidifier setting for a basement would be around 45%-50%. You don't want it to go above 55% or mold will grow. I know Michigan can be very moist in basements, so try the 50% side and see if it eliminates the damp smell. If it does not, go down to 45%. This should be good for the whole year. You wouldn't need a timer on it, as you'd want it to run continuously.

To your health,
Lisa
