essential oils in humidifiers
by: Lisa- site expert

Hi Diane,
You can only put essential oils in the humidifiers that have a special receptacle for them. I have a vick's warm mist humidifier that has a little container for essential oils at the top of the warm mist chamber, so the oil is not in the water, but gets heated by the mist coming out and evaporates into the air that way.

You don't want to put the essential oils into the water in the humidifier directly. It will gunk up the humidifier and make it harder to clean- and you'd have to clean it more often. No one wants to do that!

Just look for one that specifically says it has a place for essential oils to go and you will be fine. The vick's warm mist humidifier has worked well for me with that!

To your health,
Lisa
