Dehumidifiers - Best Brands

Dehumidifiers are great for reducing home and room humidity levels. Humidity levels should be around 30-45% and no more than 50%. When humidity is too high, you can have problems with mold, dust mites, bacteria, and viruses. Air that is too wet will allow these problem air particles to multiply. When air moisture is just right, it is healthy for your home and your body.

Dehumidifiers are generally most needed during the summer months, or in climates where it is above 50 or 60 degrees all year round. In areas colder than that, the forced air heating in homes will dry the air. Therefore, you will not have a problem with too much air moisture, unless you have leaks.

Great places for them are in the basement, bathrooms without a fan vent, bedrooms for more comfortable sleeping, and anywhere there is too much air moisture where bacteria and mold can grow.

Companies with quality products and good consumer reviews.

Santa Fe - great for basements

Aprilaire - great unit for the whole house

Danby - very quiet

Soleus - highly rated
