Best Crawl Space Dehumidifiers
Keeping unwanted moisture out of your crawlspace with a dehumidifier is essential. Excess humidity can cause unpleasant mildew odors, damage property values, and create health hazards.
While a crawl space dehumidifier can seem quite expensive, the cost of allowing your home to become damaged is much greater. Depending on how large your crawlspace is, and how damp it tends to become, there are a variety of options. Frigidaire manufactures an excellent and economical low-temperature dehumidifier marketed as the FAD704DUD 70 Pint Dehumidifier.
This model operates quietly and efficiently at temperatures as low as 41 degrees Fahrenheit. It is effective in spaces as large as 1,400 square feet. This dehumidifier is capable of removing 70 pints of water from the air every 24 hours, and costs about $250. If you have a smaller crawl space, but a lot more moisture or lower temperatures, you might need the Ebac CD30 Dehumidifier.
While this unit only covers up to 400 square feet, it removes over 2 gallons of water from the air every 24 hours. It also boasts a temperature range of 33 degrees Fahrenheit to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. The Ebac CD30 costs about $780 dollars.
If you have both a larger crawl space and more moisture, you might need a more heavy-duty dehumidifier. The Santa Fe Impact XT Dehumidifier covers up to 2,500 square feet. This unit removes over 13 gallons of water from the air every 24 hours, and has a temperature range of 56 degrees Fahrenheit to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
It is a good deal more expensive, though. The Impact XT retails at $1,865.
