cool mist humidifier baby room Ready, Set, AIM

My 6 week old baby just contracted a cold. Her nose and her throat are really congested. I have a cool mist humidifier(Crane) running right next to her bassinet. Should I have it where the mist directly goes in her direction or away? Does it make a difference? If in her direction would it make her cold since it is cool mist?

cool mist humidifier for baby nursery

Hi Vee,
(I like your title of the comment- clever!) A humidifier is a good idea to help with her cold. First, I want to make sure that you are using distilled water in the cool mist humidifier. If it is tap water, it could be irritating to your baby's lungs. With distilled, it has been purified and minerals removed so they don't go in the air.

Also, I wouldn't put the cool mist humidifier spout towards her crib. It does seem like it would be too cold/damp for her if she has a cold. Just in the room with her somewhere will help as much.

Hope she feels better soon!

To your health,
Lisa
